If you smile, then that should set the tone

Name: Demelza Phoebe Robins
Nicknames: Dee, Demz
Birthday: February 14
Age: 16
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Bloodline: Halfblood
Spirituality/Religion: Christian

Quidditch Team?: Yes.
Prefect?: No.
Left/Right/Ambi: Right
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Wand: Willow with a dragon heartstring core, ten inches
Occupation: Student, Ex-Chaser

Affiliation: Considering the family she orignates from, Demelza is a rather open person in the sense that she sees everyone as equals and would gladly accept people into her life so long as they prove to her that she can trust them. She wouldn't judge people simply because of the color of their skin or the 'purity' of their blood. Some of her siblings are even Squibs and Muggles, and she loves them just the same. This is why she couldn't ever be on Voldemort's side. She'd be turning her back on her very own family, and that is something she would never do.

As for the Carrows situations.... It blows, to be honest. Seriously, Demelza is just about the most expressive person there is. She doesn't like to be quieted down when she's got something important to say (or even when what she has to say isn't all that important anyway). Her opinions are a crucial part of her being, and her mother always taught her to speak her mind, to be a free-thinker, independent of all outside forces. And really, Demelza is a free-spirit, not withstanding oppression of any sort. She hates being bottled up and could very well explode on someone if they're not too careful.

Personality: Demelza can typically be described as tough, relentless, sarcastic, strong-willed and, her own personal favourite, "BLOODY HELL, HERE COMES Demelza!" Whether on the pitch or on solid ground, Demelza always carries herself with great pride. The usual first impression one gets of Demelza upon meeting her can be described as, "Get out of her way, or she'll trample you over like a steam engine on a hot September's day." However, Demelza isn't always 'all up in yo face' with her attitude. She does possess a quite sweet disposition, particularly for girly things, such as dresses, shoes, make up, hair products, cute boys, etc. She might tear your face off, but she'll do it with a smile, and she'll do it with style.

There aren't very many things that Demelza is afraid of, which is probably the cause of her full speed ahead type of personality. She doesn't like to dilly dally on something but instead prefers immediate action. This can some times get her into trouble, as she doesn't tend to think too much about the consequences of her actions and simply goes by mere whim alone. She has a bit of a feisty attitude which usually results in pointless arguments about just about anything really. However, she thinks her argumentative nature is part of her charm. Besides, no one likes a big, old softy anyway.

Demz is very reliable though and extremely dependable. If she says she's going to do something for you, she will do it for you, even if it kills her. She would never give her word if she had any doubts about whether or not she could get the job done. However, she also likes a bit of a challenge, which always comes with bettering her skill at Quidditch. Even though she pays a lot of attention to herself and is some times overly confident to the point of being pompous, she does care very much for others, particularly her family, friends and house mates. She is almost as loyal as she is brave. Almost. Her strong will over powers her loyalty at times, making her desire to carry out her goals more important some times than the people she has to use to accomplish said goal.

Demelza is most definitely a leader. She would butt heads with anyone just to get to the top in order to get a chance to do things her way. When she does have the attention of the crowd, she is extremely organised when figuring out how to lead in the best way possible. She has a hard time working in groups, because she always wants things to go her way and doesn't generally trust people right from the start. Everyone she meets needs to earn her trust before she begins to accept them. She has a bit of a prejudice when it comes to Purebloods, thinking they're all just a bunch of snobby, uptight, rich kids. Some parts of that notion were challenged when she met the Weasley's, particularly Fred, George and Ginny.

Demz also has a knack for the arts. Her favourite thing to do in the whole wide world is entertain people. She'll do this by putting on lavish productions with singing, playing guitar, acting and storytelling. She will do just about anything for attention and doesn't like to share the spotlight very much. She accepts this though and admits to it. Not like she cares right? She prides herself on being truthful, because she figures that if you can't accept the person you are, flaws and all, then what the hell does it really matter? She generally likes herself and really could care less what people think of her.

Yet, there is a calmer almost shy side to Demz that not very many people know. In fact, perhaps her best friend and her mother are the only people who have ever really seen Demz in her calmest state. This generally happens when she feels completely at ease, as if there isn't anything that needs to be done and nothing is bothering her. Though when something is bothering her, you can surely tell by the way she bites her nails and twirls her hair around her finger as if it was about to fall off.

Likes: Demz loves her broom. If she could marry her broom, she most definitely would. It's not even a really new, flashy, expensive one either (not that her parents could afford a really new, flashy, expensive one anyway). It's actually quite worn and frayed. However, Demz still insists on using it, just because she says it brings her good luck. She's not superstitious per say. She's just extremely comfortable flying on her broom and fears that if she gets a new one, then the feeling she gets while flying won't be the same. She also enjoys singing, playing guitar and pretty much anything to do with music. She considers her mother to be her inspiration for loving music and theatre so much, since Jane was, in fact, an actress herself and would also let Demz and her siblings watch all sorts of musicals on the telly.

Dislikes: Demz hates those people who just swear they own the world. She clearly knows she does not own the world, which is why she doesn't act like she owns the world and doesn't treat everyone who lives in the world like her slaves. She has a particularly large beef with a certain Lord Voldemort for his queen of the universe complex and really wishes he would look in the mirror, because he is just not that pretty to rule the world, thank you very much. She also has this strange fear of big Muggle devices like cars and lifts. She might be slightly claustrophobic, though she tries to pretend as if enclosed spaces within the lifts don't bother her.

Strengths: Demelza is a born leader. When faced with a task at hand, she will go straight for it without fear or hesitation. She knows that a leader always knows what to do even when they really don't. She isn't afraid of the unknown though and actually welcomes new adventures all the time. She's probably more afraid of being alone than failing at something. She figures failing is a part of life and will just go with the flow, willingly learning lessons along the way. She doesn't take crap from anyone at any time or any place. She doesn't believe in insults actually having any negative effect on her self esteem, and in fact, she thinks that if someone actually does take the time to insult her, then she must pose a real threat to that person and thrives on that idea very much.

Weaknesses: Demz, however, is a very stubborn person and refuses to see to reason some times. She can let her emotions get the best of her, and she has trouble seeing anything else passed that. She is thick-headed and has a strong personality with a tendency to push people away with her argumentative nature at times. She isn't mean on purpose, though her tough exterior is simply a survival method so that no one can get the best of her. She does end up losing friends with her harsh personality, but she figures that if people can't handle her, then they shouldn't be her friends anyway.

Appearance: Demelza is about average height, coming in at around five feet and four inches. She's not immensely skinny, but her mother does argue with her at times that she does need to gain a bit of weight. Demz doesn't listen though, because honestly, what more can she do to gain weight? She eats three solid meals, plus sweets at the interim on a daily basis. It's not like she's lacking in nutrition or starving herself by any means. She's just an incredibly active girl, always running around and in high spirits. She keeps herself physically active by playing Quidditch.

She has a peachy complexion with blue eyes, rosy red lips and a heart-stopping smile. Her cheeks get dimples when she laughs or giggles exceptionally loud. For the most part, she has very soft, gentle features with her nose being just a bit on the big side. She has reddish-brown hair that when left to dry on its own becomes wavy. Once blow dried, however, it easily returns to its straight form, which she prefers best. She's usually got her hair on the wavy side, just because she's too lazy to straighten it in the mornings.

When she's not completely decked out in Quidditch attire or in her usual crimson and gold, she enjoys lounging about in jeans and t-shirts, leggings, shorts, tanks, whatever feels most comfortable. One can say she has little to no sense of style, but she doesn't care. Style isn't what makes a person, according to her. She usually wears her hair up in a ponytail and/or loose. Occasionally, she will bust out with some low lying pigtails, but that's only if she wakes up in a good mood. You can always tell how good her mood is by how much she's paid attention to her looks that morning. If she's just got whatever on, it most likely means she woke up on the wrong side of the Quidditch pitch that morning.

Demz is used to not having the latest fashions, however, because she's learned she has to share her things with all her siblings. This doesn't bother her in the least. She loves playing dress up with the little kids, giving them all her plastic jewelry and accessories. Her most prized possession is a silver necklace with the letter D on it that she wears all the time. It was the last thing her father ever bought for her before he passed. Demelza never takes that necklace off. As for the time being, she only has her ears pierced. However, she definitely wants to pierce her nose at some point, just to wear a stud on there all the time.

This young, Gryffindor carries herself very much like a boy does. She slouches and scratches, talks loudly and burps. In all honesty, she doesn't do it to be rude or anything. It's just the way she's grown up, with thick skin as a direct result of having to deal with her brothers, who, despite being kind to her, still tended to play rough with her, particularly rugby. Demz can be the girliest girl you have ever known once you get her out of her rough rider comfort zone.

History:

Mother: Jane Robins
Father: Sebastian Robins (deceased)

Biological Brothers: Robert (Robbie) Robins (19) and Stephen Robins (12)
Biological Sisters: Rory Robins (14)

Adoptive Brothers: Saul Robins (13), Pieter Robins (13), Caleb Robins (7)
Adoptive Sisters: Marie Robins (11) and Judy Robins (9)

Pets: Purple, the hamster (Demelza's), Sausage, the owl (Rory's)

Demelza Robins came into a world with no boundaries. The sky was the limit, and the limit for how many children the Robins decided to bring into their home didn't seem to exist. Demelza honestly cannot remember a time when she wasn't surrounded by total and utter chaos. She learned how to deal with the chaos though, finding her own harmonious path to shine through while at the same time not taking up anyone else's spotlight time. Fighting for attention at the Robins house was just about the only fighting that ever went on there. Surprisingly enough, the Robins children all seemed to be able to work together quite well.

Sebastian Robins met Jane Jenkins at a local coffee shop in London. Jenkins, a Wizard, and Robins, a Muggle, seemed to have very little in common at first, until they discovered their fond love of Jane Austen books. Jenkins enjoyed the novelist's works as well as the fact that they shared a first name. Robins was more attracted to the style of writing and the way she was able to revolutionize the world. More of a historian than anything, Sebastian was absolutely tickled by Jane's flowery and free-flowing ways. Never in his entire, structure-filled life had he ever met someone who decided what they were doing that day right as they were waking up. It was an adventure for both of them, and they decided to take the leap.

Despite having no previous knowledge of the Wizarding World, Sebastian, however, was quite the keen observer. He paid great attention to detail, which was how he caught her doing careless magic one day. And after much explanation, Sebastian finally was able to believe that his girlfriend, the woman whom he loved, was, in fact, a witch. It took him a while to accept it though, because his life had always been based on facts. Suddenly, this entire new world had been presented to him simply by word of mouth. He had to do some investigating on his own. Eventually though, with Jane's patient explanations and answers to his many questions, Sebastian began to grow more and more at ease with the idea that his girlfriend could wave a wand and cause a lamp to float in mid-air.

It wasn't long after this declaration that Jane and Sebastian decided to marry, taking Jane's occasional acting gigs on the road. While Sebastian would give tours on neighboring historical sites, Jane would sit at home rehearsing lines to herself as she nursed her growing tummy. And soon, the first of the Robins came into the world. Robbie Robins loved to get into mischief. Though it was difficult for him, being the only child at first. His parents, mostly his father, would keep an eye on him, never really allowing him to get into much mischief. That was a problem that was quickly corrected with the birth of their second child, a girl this time, with flaming red hair and a shriek that could shatter glass. Demelza Robins came into the world with a bang.

Demelza wasn't the only one who made a loud bang upon her arrival. Robbie was apparently quite annoyed that his alone time with his parents was taken away by this obnoxious, little firecracker. And at first, he tried with all his might to fight her, not physically obviously, but fight over their parents' attention. Demz usually ended up winning, since she was younger and tended to need more care than Robbie. As the years went on though, Robbie and Demz grew to like one another and even to work together, because soon, they were preparing the fort for another Robins.

Rory Robins was a bit of a sickly child. While both Robbie and Demz grew up strong and healthy, Rory was much thinner and frail, which caused Robbie and Demz to ease up their rough-housing with each other in order to help their mam with the new baby. And then Stephen came along, and the older Robins children were finding that things around the house were getting a bit cramped. The parental units agreed and decided to move the gang back to Northern Ireland, where Jane's family was located. There, they settled in nicely in a comfortable home.

Having been so busy with all the children and her acting career, Jane had hardly noticed what her two eldest children had begun to do in their spare time, namely at night under Demelza's covers. They would spend hours turning on and off a candle stick without even touching it. Both siblings had always been afraid of the dark, until one night, Demelza showed Robbie what she had done: turned on a candlestick that was on the other side of the room. Of course, they had known their mother could do amazing things with her wand, and they were eager to see if they could too.

One day, on her walk back from an acting gig, Jane lost her way and ended up in a poor, rundown neighborhood. Instead of panicking, she decided to have a look about the place. It was there that she came across this tiny little girl sitting outside on the lawn playing with a doll. Her clothes were old and a bit ripped, but the small blonde of probably two years of age merely looked up at Jane with big, blue eyes. It was then that Jane noticed the house that belonged to the lawn outside. It was a two-story building, paint cracked in many places, old and dingy-looking. There seemed to be quite a ruckus inside where Jane (already being accustom to the sound of many children roaming about the place) could distinctly hear various children inside. This place, she was later to discover, was an orphanage.

And that little girl would soon be another member of the Robins family. It was strange when the six Robins sat down for dinner one night, only to have to blink curiously at a little blonde girl sitting across from them at the table. "Kids, this is Marie. She's going to be your new sister." The youngest of them all, Stephen, was very confused at this, because really, Marie didn't have the typical dark brown or reddish hair that the rest of them did. Robbie, though, took charge of his clan quickly, making sure they all treated the newest member of their family with respect. Marie and Demz shared a room for a really long time, because Rory always needed her own dust-free room. Out of all the soon-to-come adopted kids, Marie would always be Demz's favourite.

And then came the time for Robbie to head off to Hogwarts, where he was Sorted into Hufflepuff House. The Robins knew they couldn't adopt another child after having spent all that money to send Robbie to Hogwarts, though now Jane was a frequenting visitor to the orphanage, often helping with the cleaning and doing a bit of extra work with her wand when no one was looking. But one day, someone was looking. Pieter (or it could have been Saul, Jane doesn't really remember as she couldn't tell them apart back then) gasped in awe as he watched Jane levitate a board up to the wall with her wand. He immediately ran to tell his twin brother, where they both sat bewildered about the discovery.

After finding the twins under a blanket, Jane carefully tried to explain to the pair of 5-year-olds that what they saw was a secret and that they couldn't tell anyone. After pinky-swearing both of them, she still didn't feel very secure that her secret would be kept. This was why she had invited the pair of them to dinner that night, and surprisingly, they seemed to assimilate rather well into the family structure. Soon, the twins would be coming over to play with the other children of the house, and Demz, of course, was the babysitter, since Robbie was off to Hogwarts.

Soon though, Demelza got her own Hogwarts letter and much to the younger kids' chagrin, she was rather excited to be off and learn magic. Not that she wanted to leave her quickly growing family, but she knew she had to take a stand on what she wanted to do in life. She was almost certain she wanted something in the wizarding world. And before she knew it, she had arrived by boat to the magical castle along with her fellow yearmates and was quickly sorted into Gryffindor. (There was also a bit of a shout that came from the Hufflepuff table. No doubt Robbie cheering his sister on as well.)

The years went on much like this: Demelza would be at Hogwarts with Robbie, and they would both return home for the hols. One year, Robbie's last year at Hogwarts, they returned home to celebrate Christmas only to find two more children in their home. Judy was a rather chubby, Chinese girl who loved collecting buttons. And Caleb was a happy, bouncy fellow, who made the older Robins children popcorn necklaces to wear around their necks. Bringing Caleb into the family was surprisingly not Jane's idea, but Sebastian's. One day, they had both gone to visit the orphanage, and the two instantly clicked.

And though all seemed happy and joyful in the Robins home, not everything was. Sebastian Robins, in an effort to maintain the family's happiness, was keeping something from his wife and children. He'd been having difficulty breathing as of late, and in the summer after Rory started at Hogwarts (sorted into Hufflepuff as well), Sebastian had a heart attack and passed away. The family was clearly devastated (adopted children and all and particularly Caleb), though they stuck together through it all. Jane managed to secure a high-paying job with a prestigious fashion corporation in the wizarding world. This job allowed her to work from home while caring for the remaining children.

Young Stephen was quite upset when his Hogwarts letter never came even after the adopted twins (Saul and Pieter) got Hogwarts letters of their own. However, his mother explained to him that she loved him just the same, and that he need not worry. She would never be ashamed of him for that. The twins did well their first year, having been sorted into Ravenclaw. Jane was most pleased to have her children spread out through three of the four Hogwarts Houses. It meant she had taught her children to be open to new things. She, herself, was a Ravenclaw.

The passing of her father hurt Demelza the most though. He had always been like her best friend, telling her that she could be whoever she wanted to be (echoing his mother's mantra) but that she was also quite brilliant, that she had to use her brilliance to make the world a better place. This much was certain. The world did need to be a better place after the murder of Cedric Diggory and most recently, of Hogwarts Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. It was clear to Demz which side she was on in this war, and she wasn't about to take her role in the war lightly.

Starting her sixth year at Hogwarts brought about a bit of a shock. Not only did she come back to a full-on Death Eater control of the school, but her sister, Marie, was sorted into Slytherin House. This didn't scare her as much as the fact that the Carrows would no doubt attempt to brainwash her little sister. It was enough that Marie was so young and impressionable. She didn't need those oafs telling her to ditch her family, who had taken care of her and brought her out of poverty. It's a struggle she's currently undergoing along with mouthing off to the Carrows and working on her NEWT level classes.
